Who We Are

At Heart of a Servant Church, we believe the greatest calling is to serve others as Christ served us. Our story, mission, and vision all begin and end with love.
Our Purpose

At Heart of a Servant Church and Ministries, our purpose is simple yet profound: to glorify God by serving others with humility, compassion, and love.

We believe the church is called to be the hands and feet of Jesus. That means restoring hope where it’s lost, building relationships that last, and meeting both the spiritual and practical needs of individuals and families in our community.
Our Mission

Our mission is to proclaim and embody the message of love, hope, and faith by serving the Lake Wales community with humility and dedication.

Rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ, we strive to:

Spiritual Growth

Nurturing faith in every individual through teaching, discipleship, and prayer.

Welcoming Community

Providing a safe and loving environment where people discover their God-given purpose.

Life Transformation

Restoring lives through outreach, mentorship, and programs for seniors and youth.

Unity in Christ

Building strong relationships and partnerships that strengthen the church family and beyond.

Guiding Principles of Belief

At Heart of a Servant Church and Ministries, our beliefs are rooted in the truth of God’s Word and the life-changing message of Jesus Christ. These guiding principles shape our faith, worship, and service to the community.

The Authority of Scripture

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, our ultimate guide for faith, life, and practice.

The Trinity

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Salvation through Jesus Christ

We believe salvation is God’s gift of grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection.

The Power of the Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit empowers, guides, and transforms believers to live in obedience and purpose.

The Church as the Body of Christ

We believe the church is a family of believers called to worship, disciple, serve, and spread the gospel of Christ.

The Call to Servanthood

We believe every Christian is called to serve others with humility, compassion, and love, just as Christ served us.

Hope of Eternal Life

We believe in the promise of eternal life with God through Jesus Christ, and we live with hope and anticipation of His return.
Our Story

In 1990, God called Our Pastor, Hayden Marshall, into the ministry. He was ordained in 1993, then in 1995, Rev. Marshall explains, “God instructed me to start a church for Him and call it “The Heart of a Servant Church.”

In obedience, Rev. Marshall and his wife, Sherita, started having services in their home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. When their home church grew rapidly and could no longer contain all the people, they sought larger accommodations and relocated into a store-front property with large enough capacity to fit their growing congregation. After 21 years of preaching, Pastor Marshall was diagnosed with cancer and had to relieve himself of duties and responsibilities of Pastor and overseer. As a good shepherd, he literally took his congregation to a true man of God and placed them into his hands, someone whom he knew would be able to feed his flock well and continue to inspire his flocks’ spiritual growth, giving them the true unadulterated word of God.

Undaunted by his diagnosis, Rev. Marshall and Sherita continued to walk steadfastly in their faith in God and proclaimed the healing power of their Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus. Meanwhile, God was at work in the background. On one of his last few visits with the Doctors in Miami Florida, He was told that the cancer was gone. God, Jehovah Rophe, had healed him completely. Since 2017, he has been cancer free.

In 2018, Rev. Hayden and Sherita relocated to Polk County, Florida and joined a local assembly in Lake Wales, close to the town they settled in. Once again, the voice of the Lord beckoned, calling him back into the ministry, identifying even the exact location and building. God was calling for restoration. Rev. Marshall and his wife are excited to embark upon this new assignment for The Lord, and he quotes from the Bible, “for we know that all things work together for the good of those who love the Lord and are called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28). We know, states Rev. Marshall, when God gives a vision he makes provision, and “to whom much is given, much is required” (Luke 12:48).
